THIS SIGN IS NOT REAL

The U.S. 41 - WI 29 interchange is currently a diamond, and there is only a rural-type exit sign. This is what the sign may look like when this interchange is made into a full freeway to freeway interchange. By 2005, WisDOT will have made a diamond interchange at WI 29 and Packerland Dr., and maybe by 2020 the U.S. 41 - WI 29 interchange may be made into a freeway to freeway. The map below shows what the interchange will look like. The 3rd and 4th level ramps will cost $5 and $7 million 1997 dollars each, respectively. Currently U.S. 41 is 2 lanes each way through the Green Bay metro area, except for a 1 mile stretch between WI 172 and Lombardi Ave. where there is an acceleration/deceleration lane as well. U.S. 41 is very congested during rush hour, but there are no current plans to add any lanes. The logical guess is that during the next major reconstruction of this stretch of highway, which will not be until around 2010, WisDOT will make it 3 lanes in each direction, between at least WI 172 and I-43. It will probably be similar to U.S. 41 in Appleton/Menasha/Neenah.
