Currently, the Northwest Arterial begins at U.S. 20. Eventually, the Iowa DOT hopes to build the Southwest Arterial and, if the proposal the creators of WC support is carried out, construct an interchange at this location. Also, a suitable plan for U.S. 20 capacity expansion is indicated by the presence of a third lane at this location, that lane being the mandatory lane for exit 315. To the DOT: Hint, hint . . .
