The Hale Interchange saw semi-major construction on it during the summer of 1999. The project lowered the I-43 south ramp, revamped the US 45 north ramp, and demolished and made a higher I-894 east ramp. The purpose of this was to increase the height clearances in the middle "stack". Repairs to other bridges and surfaces were done, as well.
